Nigeria’s SMEDAN Awards N20m as Global Spotlight Turns to MSME Innovation

The National MSME Conference 2025 concluded with strong momentum as Day 3 delivered inspiring breakout sessions, practical masterclasses, and a high-energy pitch competition driven by SMEDAN’s commitment to empowering Nigeria’s enterprise ecosystem. MSME Excellence guided every activity, giving rising entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their ideas and secure meaningful opportunities.

The Pitch Competition became the day’s biggest highlight. More than 700 applicants began the journey, but after a rigorous selection process, only 10 remarkable finalists earned their place on the main stage. Each finalist presented bold ideas that reflected Nigeria’s creative strength and entrepreneurial resilience. Their pitches covered diverse sectors, demonstrating how MSMEs continue to shape innovation nationwide.

Judges evaluated creativity, scalability, market potential, and long-term impact. Although the competition remained tight, 5 outstanding entrepreneurs emerged as winners. They shared a combined prize pool of N20 million, giving them the capital and confidence to scale their innovations. This achievement also reflects SMEDAN’s mission to unlock opportunities, expand enterprise capacity, and support founders at every stage of their journey.

Beyond the competition, the day offered several creator-focused learning experiences. A standout moment came from the engaging masterclass led by Folagade Banks (@folagade_banks). He shared practical insights on the power of consistency, emphasizing how small, repeated actions shape long-term success. He also highlighted the importance of intentional branding, explaining how creators can build strong identities that attract partnerships, audiences, and sustainable growth. His message encouraged participants to show up boldly, avoid overthinking, and embrace their unique voices as they build their careers.

SMEDAN ensured that every session provided value. Breakout discussions explored real problems facing MSMEs, while expert panels offered tools that entrepreneurs can apply immediately. Speakers encouraged participants to adopt modern business practices, strengthen financial discipline, and leverage digital opportunities. The energy in the room stayed vibrant throughout, as founders exchanged ideas, built networks, and discovered new pathways to scale.

The conference reaffirmed SMEDAN’s leadership in shaping Nigeria’s enterprise future. Through targeted support, strategic partnerships, and nationwide advocacy, the agency continues to position MSMEs as key drivers of growth. The success of Day 3 reflected this vision, bringing creators, innovators, and policymakers together under one mission—building a stronger, more dynamic MSME ecosystem.

With the National MSME Conference 2025 now concluded, entrepreneurs leave with fresh insights, renewed motivation, and clearer direction. The collaboration, knowledge sharing, and recognition seen on Day 3 demonstrate that Nigeria’s MSME sector stands ready for global competitiveness. The future remains bright, and SMEDAN’s ongoing support will help many more entrepreneurs rise, thrive, and lead meaningful change.
