The Togolese chapter of the Internet Society, ISOC Togo, convened its new Board of Directors on Saturday, January 10, 2026, during an Ordinary General Assembly that marked an important moment for the organisation and the country’s digital community. This gathering did not only review past progress. It also set the tone for a more inclusive, innovative, and forward-looking digital future.
During the meeting, members re-elected Emmanuel Elolo Agbenonwossi as president for the 2025–2027 term. This decision reflected strong confidence in his leadership, while also ensuring continuity at a time when digital issues continue to shape economic growth, education, governance, and social inclusion. Moreover, his renewed mandate sends a clear message that ISOC Togo values stability alongside strategic progress.
Over the past two years, the organisation has recorded remarkable growth. Membership increased from 435 in 2023 to 602 in 2025, which clearly shows rising interest in digital policy, internet governance, and technology-driven development across Togo. However, this growth goes beyond numbers. It also reflects a meaningful shift in who now participates in shaping the country’s digital future.
More young people have joined ISOC Togo, bringing creativity, energy, and a strong desire to use technology as a tool for opportunity. At the same time, more women have become active members, thereby strengthening gender inclusion and expanding the range of perspectives in digital discussions. In addition, a growing pool of technical experts now supports the organisation, which significantly improves its capacity to address complex issues such as cybersecurity, data protection, and digital infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Agbenonwossi’s re-election ensures that this momentum continues. Under his leadership, ISOC Togo has grown into a respected voice within Togo’s technology ecosystem. Furthermore, the organisation has increased its engagement with policymakers, civil society groups, and private sector stakeholders who share a common goal of building a safe, open, and affordable internet for all.
As the new board begins its work, attention now shifts to the future. With a stronger and more diverse membership, ISOC Togo can expand advocacy, support digital skills development, and promote policies that encourage innovation. Therefore, the coming years present a powerful opportunity to turn dialogue into measurable impact.
In the end, the January 10 General Assembly represented more than a leadership vote. It symbolised how ISOC Togo continues to evolve into a dynamic platform where young people, women, and experts collaborate to shape Togo’s digital destiny. Through unity, forward planning, and inclusive participation, the organisation now stands ready to play an even greater role in driving the country’s digital transformation.
