Call for Confidence-Building Measures

Central to Nigeria’s proposals is the release of First Vice President Riek Machar and other opposition leaders. According to President Tinubu, such action would serve as a powerful confidence-building measure. It would also signal readiness for reconciliation and political inclusion.

He explained that detentions and political restrictions undermine trust and slow implementation of the peace roadmap. Conversely, restoring political freedoms can reopen dialogue and accelerate national healing.

Advancing Stability in South Sudan
