According to the Togolese Revenues Office (OTR), vehicle owners in Togo need to pay the Motor Vehicle Tax (MVT) by March 31, 2025, as inspections will commence on April 1.
The process for paying the TVM has been entirely digital since last year, reflecting initiatives to enhance tax collection efficiency. The OTR urges everyone to utilize its online platform to prevent delays and avoid penalties.
The TVM amounts to between CFA5,000 and CFA40,000, varying based on the type of vehicle. It is applicable to all registered vehicles in Togo, which includes motorcycles over 125 cm³, tricycles, commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, and heavy goods vehicles.
Established in 2019, the MVT plays a crucial role in the upkeep of the national road infrastructure and assists the Société Autonome de Financement de l’Entretien Routier (SAFER). In the first quarter of 2024, the TVM brought in CFA1.35 billion prior to the beginning of inspections.
