Togo and Australia are actively pursuing enhanced collaboration, particularly in agriculture, women’s empowerment, and regional security.
This topic was among those addressed during a meeting on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, between Togolese Prime Minister Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé and Bérénice Owen-Jones, the Australian High Commissioner to Togo.
The discussions centered on potential avenues for strategic partnership. “We explored the possibility of deepening our cooperation in agriculture, especially to advance women’s empowerment,” Owen-Jones stated.
She also highlighted Togo’s pivotal role in promoting stability in West Africa. “We addressed the security dynamics in the sub-region, and I want to acknowledge Togo’s vital function as a bridge builder,” she noted.

The High Commissioner reiterated her dedication to enhancing bilateral ties: “Since presenting my credentials in 2023, I have committed myself to actively fostering our relationship, despite the geographical distance between our two nations. I will work diligently towards this goal,” she affirmed.
