Germany is providing Togo with financial assistance amounting to 11 million euros aimed at enhancing school feeding programs in the Kara and Savanes regions.
This funding, allocated through the German Development Bank (KfW), will allow the World Food Programme (WFP) to deliver daily meals to 28,000 children across 110 schools, including those that serve refugees and internally displaced individuals.
Beyond meal provision, the initiative encompasses the renovation of school kitchens and the installation of energy-efficient stoves, the establishment of school gardens and milling facilities to support local agriculture, and nutrition education for children, parents, and educators.
“We are establishing sustainable systems that connect local production with school feeding, fostering a robust development cycle,” stated Dr. Moïse Ballo, WFP Country Director in Togo.
Dr. Claudius Fischbach, the German Ambassador to Togo, highlighted the significance of this initiative for enhancing food security and stability in the region.

Additionally, the Togolese Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with local organizations, FAO, and WFP, aims to train and equip 8,250 small-scale producers and 1,000 women involved in cooperatives.
