The second general business census (RGE) officially commenced in Togo on Monday, March 3, 2025, following an announcement made a few days prior. This extensive initiative aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the nation’s economic landscape and will run until May 3, 2025.
The primary goal is to refresh the database of both formal and informal economic entities, thereby enhancing public policy formulation and fostering a better business environment. The census encompasses very small, small, medium, and large enterprises, in addition to non-profit organizations such as NGOs and associations. It will facilitate the updating of the business directory, enhance national accounts, and categorize economic entities in accordance with the Togolese activity nomenclature (NTA).
To execute this task, census agents are deployed across the country, utilizing digital tablets to gather and document crucial data in real time.
