The discussions also covered the Global Gateway initiative, which is an EU program aimed at funding sustainable infrastructure projects across Africa. The ambassador remarked, “We discussed concrete actions in these sectors and explored new opportunities for collaboration.”
Additionally, the preparation for the BlueInvest Africa 2025 investment forum was a significant topic of conversation. Scheduled to take place in Lomé later this year, this forum, initiated by the European Commission in 2022, seeks to link African blue economy entrepreneurs with global investors.
For Togo, this event aligns with its ambition to establish itself as a sub-regional logistics hub, leveraging its maritime and port capabilities. The partnership with the EU presents a valuable opportunity to draw in further investments and enhance infrastructure in this sector.
