In Togo, following the appointment of the final 20 senators by President Faure Gnassingbé, which completes the total of 41 senators elected last February, the upper chamber of the Togolese Parliament is set to convene for its inaugural session. This event is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Palais des Congrès in Lomé, in line with the constitutional provisions established on May 6, 2024.
This session signifies the official commencement of the Senate, reinforcing the institutional framework of the Fifth Republic. It will be led by a provisional bureau and will focus on formulating internal regulations and electing the Senate bureau.
