Togo: Enhancing Climate Transparency Efforts.

In Togo, environmental stakeholders have been evaluating two years of climate transparency initiatives since Wednesday, March 5, 2025, and are in the process of preparing a report on the actions implemented within the territory.

Despite having a relatively low carbon footprint, the country is experiencing the adverse effects of global warming. This initiative seeks to enhance the collection and analysis of data regarding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through national inventories, while also identifying mitigation strategies tailored to local conditions.

“The project will enable us to evaluate the contributions of various sectors to GHG emissions and to formulate specific measures aimed at reducing their impact,” stated Méry Yaou, Director of the Environment at the Ministry responsible for environmental affairs.

The topic of transparency in monitoring climate finance and sectoral commitments continues to be a central focus of the discussions.

This project, spearheaded by the government, aims to serve as a catalyst for better integration of climate considerations into public policies. Ultimately, it seeks to bolster the country’s resilience in a context where climate and environmental challenges are increasingly pressing for public stakeholders.
