The University of Lomé (UL) and the Shandong province of China are enhancing their academic and scientific collaboration. On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, a delegation from the Shandong Foreign Affairs Office, headed by the Chinese Ambassador to Togo, Weidong Chao, met with UL President Professor Adama Mawulé Kpodar.
The purpose of the meeting was to identify new opportunities for partnership between the two institutions, with a particular focus on research and innovation.
Shandong, recognized as one of China’s key economic centers, is noted for its strengths in agronomy and environmental sciences. Additionally, Shandong Agricultural University (SDAU) is already engaged in various projects with UL concerning agriculture and applied technologies. This collaboration has the potential to expand into other fields, aiding the West African nation in its goal to establish itself as a regional leader in agricultural innovation.
For UL, this initiative also represents an opportunity to enhance its research programs and increase prospects for academic exchanges.
