In the first quarter of 2025, Togo saw the establishment of 4,262 new businesses, as reported by the Business Formalities Center (CFE). While this figure represents a 5% decrease from the 4,503 businesses launched during the same period last year, it still indicates a robust entrepreneurial spirit.
The majority of these new ventures, accounting for 81%, are initiated by nationals, with women making up 28.6% of the entrepreneurs.
January emerged as the most productive month, witnessing 1,498 new business registrations, followed by February with 1,314 and March with 1,450, according to the available data.

This trend is part of ongoing reforms aimed at streamlining administrative processes and promoting formal business operations, which have been in place for nearly a decade.
Looking ahead, the upcoming quarters will reveal whether this 5% decline signifies a long-term trend or merely a temporary fluctuation.
For context, a total of 14,921 businesses were established in Togo throughout 2024, with over 10%, or 1,546, launched in January 2024 alone.
