Commercial Flights Resume at Upgraded Taraba State Airport in Nigeria

JALINGO, Nigeria – Commercial flights have resumed at the newly upgraded Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo, Taraba State, marking a milestone for the state’s aviation and economic development.

An Overland Airways aircraft, registration 5N-CCN, landed at the airport on Thursday at 1:22 pm, inaugurating the resumption of commercial services after extensive renovations.

The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, John Kizito Bonzena, praised Governor Agbu Kefas for his leadership in overseeing the airport’s remodeling and reconstruction. Bonzena stated that the upgraded airport would attract investors and connect Taraba State with the rest of the world. He added that daily flights and more airlines are expected to begin operating at the airport soon.

Other state government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Gebon Timothy Kataps, and the Chief of Staff, Jeji Williams, also commended Governor Kefas for prioritizing infrastructure and security. Williams revealed that a cargo section is under construction at the airport to enhance trade and logistics capabilities.

Captain Gilbert Sampa, Flight Operations Manager of Overland Airways, congratulated the people of Taraba State on the achievement and encouraged travelers and residents to support the airline and the airport.

Governor Kefas’ focus on aviation infrastructure is part of a broader effort to revitalize key infrastructure across Taraba State and position it as an attractive destination for investors.
