Togo and Burkina Faso Agree on Unrestricted Movement.

Starting May 30, 2025, mobile phone users in Togo and Burkina Faso will enjoy seamless communication without incurring roaming fees.

This development comes after the signing of a free roaming protocol on Friday, April 18, in Lomé, between the telecommunications regulatory bodies of Togo (ARCEP-Togo) and Burkina Faso (ARCEP-BF), with the attendance of the respective ministers, Cina Lawson and Aminata Zerbo-Sabane.

The agreement, which was initially revealed during a recent visit by a Burkinabe delegation to Lomé, will enable travelers to receive free calls for the first 30 days while abroad and make calls at rates equivalent to those in the host country. Additionally, the agreement encompasses internet data and SMS services, aiming to enhance mobility, promote regional integration, and provide consumers with clear and equitable billing practices.

It is also noteworthy that during the signing event, the Burkinabe delegation toured the ARCEP Togo supervision center, known for its data regulation capabilities, which allows for real-time monitoring of service quality and market conditions.

Furthermore, a partnership agreement was established between the two regulatory authorities to create a permanent framework for collaboration, thereby strengthening technological and regulatory cooperation.
