Hakeem Baba-Ahmed: The Self-Proclaimed Ethical Guide with a Misaligned Compass

In a nation where hypocrisy dons agbada and makes proclamations from stages, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed distinguishes himself—not through exceptional insight, but by his ongoing pretense as a voice of national integrity. A man who overlooked eight years of devastation under northern leadership now suddenly seeks to portray himself as a paragon of virtue. One might assume he is Nigeria’s philosopher-king given his critiques of Tinubu, conveniently overlooking his own questionable connections and self-serving behavior.

To be clear: Baba-Ahmed did not merely remain passive during Buhari’s disastrous tenure—he tacitly endorsed it by failing to voice any dissent. He observed the collapse of security in the North, the surge in inflation, and the institutionalization of nepotism without uttering a word. Now, with a southerner at the helm implementing challenging reforms, Baba-Ahmed cannot refrain from expressing his opinions on Twitter, as if he were a sage of forgotten ideals.

He is not a moral guide. He is a flawed weathervane—swaying with the currents of self-interest, tribal loyalty, and political expediency.
