Togo Seeks Anthropologists to Boost Healthcare Workforce

Togo has expanded its recruitment competition for healthcare personnel, launched on March 31, 2025, to include anthropology specialists. The Ministry of Civil Service and Social Dialogue announced late last week that this new specialty has been added to the ongoing recruitment drive.

The initiative targets candidates holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in anthropology who are Togolese nationals aged 18 to 40. Volunteer agents, contract workers, and those with valid retirement-eligible service records are also eligible, with an age limit of 45.

To accommodate applications from this new category of candidates, the application deadline, originally set for May 9, has been extended by one week to May 16 at 5 p.m. The date of the written tests remains unchanged at May 31, 2025.

The integration of anthropologists into the health sector reflects the Togolese government’s commitment to better understanding the sociocultural factors influencing population health behaviors. These specialists will be responsible for analyzing practices, beliefs, and perceptions at the community level.

This recruitment effort is part of a broader plan to strengthen the civil service workforce. In 2025, the Togolese government aims to recruit 14,120 employees across various sectors, in line with its commitment to improving public services and social security coverage.
