The Togolese National Assembly is considering joining the African Organization of Public Accounts Committees (AFROPAC). This possibility was discussed on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, by AFROPAC Vice President Abena Oséi-Asaré during a meeting with the Speaker of the Togolese Parliament, Kodjo Adédzé, on the sidelines of the first African Debt Conference in Lomé.
Oséi-Asaré presented the missions and objectives of AFROPAC to the National Assembly and highlighted the benefits of Togo’s membership. She noted the active role of the Finance Committee of the Togolese National Assembly in the Organization of Finance Committees of West African Countries, stating that Togo’s participation in AFROPAC would strengthen efforts to ensure democratic control of public finances across the continent.

The President of the National Assembly welcomed the request and announced that a study would be initiated soon. He affirmed Togo’s commitment to budget transparency and regional parliamentary cooperation, stating, “It is high time that African parliamentarians were able to unite and speak with one voice.”
AFROPAC brings together public accounts committees from various African countries to promote good governance and accountability in the management of public finances.
