The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to host its first-ever National Cybersecurity Conference, signaling a significant step towards strengthening the nation’s digital defenses and cultivating a more secure technology ecosystem. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, is organizing the landmark event, which is scheduled to take place from July 9 to 10, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.
The conference, themed “Securing Nigeria’s Digital Future: Innovation, Collaboration, and Resilience,” underscores the government’s commitment to building cyber resilience and safeguarding national digital infrastructure as Nigeria accelerates its transition to a technology-driven economy. NITDA’s Director-General emphasized the importance of vigilance against rising cyber threats in the digital age, highlighting the conference as a strategic intervention to align national efforts and shape cybersecurity policy.
The two-day hybrid conference, organized in partnership with QNA International, will bring together a diverse range of stakeholders, including cybersecurity experts, innovators, public and private sector representatives, and emerging Nigerian talent. Key features of the event include technical workshops, product exhibitions, keynote addresses by global cybersecurity leaders, panel sessions, a “Capture the Flag” hackathon designed to identify and empower young cybersecurity professionals, and an award dinner recognizing outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s cybersecurity landscape.
The conference’s strategic objectives include strengthening cyber resilience, promoting international cooperation in combating cybercrime, advancing workforce development in cybersecurity, and encouraging inter-agency and multi-sectoral coordination. NITDA has called on stakeholders from across government, the private sector, academia, civil society, and the media to actively participate in shaping a more secure digital future for Nigeria. The agency also acknowledged the crucial role of the media in raising public awareness and urged journalists to support sensitization efforts leading up to the event.
