Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has inaugurated two key committees aimed at addressing critical challenges facing the state: a Livestock Control Committee and a Boundary Committee. The establishment of these committees signals the Governor’s commitment to proactive governance and conflict resolution.
The Livestock Control Committee, chaired by General Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd), is tasked with regulating livestock movement and activities within Edo State. This initiative is a direct response to the ongoing conflicts between herders and farmers, which have caused tension and disruption in various communities. The committee will be responsible for implementing measures to prevent these clashes, including registering ranches, controlling the activities of cattle herdsmen, and providing security reports to the Governor.

The Boundary Committee, led by Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, will focus on resolving boundary disputes both within Edo State and with neighboring regions, including Lagos, Ondo, Delta, and Kogi. These disputes have often led to conflicts and hindered development in affected areas. The committee will work to establish clear and agreed-upon boundaries, fostering greater stability and cooperation. Both committees are expected to play a crucial role in promoting peace, security, and sustainable development in Edo State.
