The Kogi State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Miller Dantawaye, has provided significant financial assistance to the families of seven police officers who tragically lost their lives in active service. A total of N13.7 million was presented in checks to the bereaved families, a gesture directly aligned with the vision of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
SP William Ovye, the command’s spokesperson, stated that this initiative underscores IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s commitment to ensuring that the families of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice are not forgotten. The financial support is provided through structured welfare programs, specifically the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, designed to offer crucial assistance during difficult times.
During the presentation, CP Dantawaye emphasized that the welfare of police officers and their families remains a top priority under IGP Egbetokun’s leadership. He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force, under the current administration, is dedicated to supporting the families of fallen officers, recognizing their sacrifices and assuring them that the Force stands by its own. He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds.
A representative of the beneficiary families expressed deep gratitude to IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for remembering the families of the deceased officers who gave their lives for the nation’s peace and security. They pledged to use the support wisely for the well-being of their families. The Kogi State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the values of sacrifice, service, and welfare in all its operations.
