Nigeria’s journey toward a digitally empowered population has taken another major step forward. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with GetBundi Education Technology, has launched the second phase of its digital skills training program targeted at National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members across the country. This initiative is part of NITDA’s broader Digital Literacy for All Initiative (DL4ALL), which seeks to achieve 70 percent digital literacy among Nigerians by 2027.
The training focuses on three high-demand skill areas: Graphics Design, Digital Marketing, and Cybersecurity. These fields offer strong employment prospects and are increasingly essential in a fast-evolving digital economy. The decision to target NYSC members reflects NITDA’s strategic intent to prepare Nigerian youth for the jobs of tomorrow, ensuring that graduates gain competitive digital capabilities before they enter the labor market.
Under the partnership, GetBundi brings its technology-driven learning platform to bear. The company previously worked with NITDA to design a digital literacy framework based on six core competency areas of the DL4ALL program. That collaboration laid the groundwork for practical implementation, beginning with NYSC members, who represent a dynamic and educated segment of Nigeria’s population.
This training initiative is more than a workshop; it is a structured learning journey that blends theory with hands-on application. Participants not only acquire the knowledge to navigate today’s digital tools, but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These are vital in the modern workplace, where remote collaboration, digital marketing strategy, and data protection are non-negotiable assets.
The program is intentionally inclusive. It cuts across all states and aims to reach youth from varied academic backgrounds. The goal is to level the playing field and ensure that no one is left behind in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey. By reaching out through the NYSC scheme, the training has access to thousands of young people posted across the country, including in underserved areas.
NITDA has consistently stressed the importance of digital literacy in national development. The DL4ALL initiative is one of its most ambitious projects to date. By focusing on scalable, decentralized training through partnerships with ed-tech companies like GetBundi, the agency is embracing an agile and cost-effective model.
This second phase of the program marks a milestone in the ongoing effort to close Nigeria’s digital divide. As the global economy increasingly rewards digital fluency, Nigeria cannot afford to lag. The NITDA-GetBundi partnership offers a model that other sectors can emulate—government and private sector uniting to build capacity at scale.
The impact of this initiative goes beyond just the beneficiaries. As more digitally skilled individuals enter the job market or start their own ventures, the ripple effect will stimulate local economies, increase productivity, and support national goals like job creation and inclusive growth.
With consistent investment in digital talent, Nigeria is poised to emerge as a technology-driven powerhouse in Africa. Programs like this one help turn that vision into a tangible reality. As NYSC members sharpen their skills and gain access to global tools, the future of work becomes not just a challenge—but a shared opportunity.
