President Bola Tinubu has rejoiced with elder statesman and former Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo, as he clocked 71 on August 2, 2025.
A renowned architect, Sambo served as Governor of Kaduna State from 2007 to 2010 and later as vice president to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The President, in a release issued on Saturday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described ex-Vice President Sambo as a man of integrity and loyalty who is deeply committed to Nigeria’s unity and stability.
As a prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sambo worked closely with President Jonathan, serving with dedication and maintaining a relationship of mutual respect in and out of office.
President Tinubu appreciated Sambo’s continued leadership and statesmanship in Nigeria and the West African subregion, including his support for Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani in advancing religious tolerance, peace, and stability statewide.
Sambo led the ECOWAS Observation Mission to Ghana’s December, 2024 Presidential Elections. Before this, he headed a similar mission in the Republic of Niger in December, 2020 and the run-off poll in that country in February, 2021.
President Tinubu wished former Vice President Sambo many more years in good health and continued service to the nation.
The President also on Saturday warmly congratulated his political ally and friend, Senator Aliyu Wadada Ahmed, on his turbaning as the Magajin Dangin Lafia by His Royal Highness, Justice Sidi Muhammad Bage, the Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs.
President Tinubu described the honour as a recognition of Wadada’s commitment to public service, his deep-rooted connection to his people, and his longstanding contributions to the development of Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.
The President also commended the Emir of Lafia for upholding the noble tradition of honouring individuals whose character, leadership, and patriotism embody the values of the emirate and reflect the spirit of unity, service, and integrity.
“My dear Senator Wadada, as Magajin Dangin, you bear a title rich in history, responsibility, and cultural heritage.
“I am confident you will continue to deploy your influence, experience, and goodwill to promote peace and foster development of Lafia Emirate, Nasarawa State, and our great nation,” President Tinubu stated.
The President wished the Senator continued wisdom, strength, and success in his dual roles as a federal lawmaker and a traditional titleholder.
