The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, alongside former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tuoyo Ideh, and more than 100 other guests, during a late-night raid on Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The operation, which took place around 3 a.m. on Sunday, was conducted after operatives of the agency received intelligence suggesting that a drug-themed party was underway at the upscale venue located at 7 Akin Adesola Street.
According to a statement issued by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, officials had infiltrated the party as early as 11 p.m. on Saturday before disrupting the event based on standard operating procedures.
“Over 100 suspects, including the club owner, were taken into custody for screening. Cartons of illicit substances, including ‘Loud’ and laughing gas, were recovered from the club’s storage area and from attendees,” the statement read.
Tuoyo, in a post shared via Instagram, expressed frustration over the incident, saying guests were treated “like criminals” despite not engaging in any illegal act. However, Tuoyo later revealed on his Instagram story that he had been released and promised to give full details of what transpired later.
The Lagos raid forms part of the NDLEA’s wider anti-narcotics operations across several states. In recent weeks, the agency has intercepted drug shipments at major airports and highways nationwide.
At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), NDLEA operatives recently uncovered 70 parcels of cocaine concealed inside cocoa butter containers bound for London. The substance, weighing 3.6 kilograms, was traced to a cargo agent and two additional suspects linked to the export attempt.
Similarly, NDLEA officers in Enugu, Kwara, Taraba, and Zamfara States carried out coordinated operations leading to multiple arrests and seizures, including methamphetamine, tramadol, skunk, and skuchies.
The agency’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers involved in the raids, urging sustained efforts to curb the sale and use of illicit substances.
“Our commitment remains firm, enforcement must go hand in hand with education and public awareness to reduce drug abuse in communities,” Marwa said.
The suspects arrested at the Lagos nightclub are currently undergoing screening at the NDLEA headquarters in Ikoyi, as investigations continue.
