Isaac Balami, a notable member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has commended Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his remarkable contributions, asserting that he is undertaking initiatives that many children of previous presidents have not pursued.
In a statement issued on Monday, Balami defended Seyi Tinubu against mounting criticism regarding his recent tour of northern states during Ramadan. This visit elicited responses, particularly from Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, the son of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who cautioned against turning the youth of Bauchi into dependents through handouts. Seyi Tinubu also faced criticism for labeling his father as Nigeria’s greatest president.
Balami, a former spokesperson for the Trade Union Congress (TUC), suggested that the backlash against Tinubu’s endeavors might be linked to speculation about his possible candidacy for the Lagos State governorship in 2027. He contended that rather than facing criticism, Seyi Tinubu should be acknowledged for his efforts in promoting national unity, humanitarian initiatives, and empowering the youth.
Rejecting the claims as politically motivated, Balami stressed that Seyi’s actions represent not only personal achievement but also a triumph for the youth of Nigeria. He urged young politicians, local government representatives, and entrepreneurs to follow Tinubu’s example of philanthropy rather than discourage him.

“Seyi Tinubu has been involved in these Ramadan outreach programs for over ten years—long before his father assumed the presidency. Should he cease these efforts simply because of his father’s current role?” Balami questioned.
He further denounced suggestions that Seyi Tinubu’s charitable actions are politically motivated, stating, “Even if there is a political aspect, what is wrong with assisting those in need? Many children of former presidents remain disconnected from the populace, but Seyi Tinubu is challenging that trend.”
Balami also emphasized Seyi’s commitment to inclusivity, noting that more than 50% of his organization’s staff are northerners, further demonstrating his dedication.
