Nigerian international and reigning CAF African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, concluded his post-season tour with a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos on Friday.
The visit was part of Lookman’s thank-you tour to Nigeria following a successful 2024/25 football season with Atalanta BC in Italy.
Lookman, accompanied by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, met with President Tinubu at his Lagos residence after a week of public appearances and celebrations across the city.
Earlier in the week, Lookman returned to his roots on Lagos Island, where he received a hero’s welcome from enthusiastic fans and community members.

Carrying his CAF award, the 27-year-old forward was greeted with chants, music, and jubilation, celebrating his achievements for his home country.
During his tour, Lookman also made cultural and entertainment stops, spending time with prominent Nigerian artists including Davido and Zlatan Ibile. He presented Davido with a signed Atalanta jersey and received merchandise from Zlatan’s clothing label.
While this was the first formal meeting between Lookman and President Tinubu since he won the CAF award, the President had previously acknowledged Lookman’s accomplishments.
In December 2024, President Tinubu commended Lookman’s achievements in a statement, praising his embodiment of the Nigerian spirit.
“These athletes embody the essential Nigerian spirit. They represent the best of us as a nation… Thank you for making Nigeria proud and keeping our flag flying,” the President stated at the time, expressing hope that Lookman’s success would inspire a new generation of African athletes.
