Alex-Duduyemi: Business Mogul, Cultural Leader Celebrates 90 Years of Excellence, Legacy

Chief Oyekunle Aremu Alex-Duduyemi, a prominent Nigerian elder statesman, businessman, and cultural leader, is celebrating his 90th birthday August 9, marking a significant milestone in a life dedicated to public service, economic development, and cultural preservation.

The celebration, which includes a series of events, has drawn dignitaries, traditional rulers, and family members from across the country and abroad to Lagos.
Revered for his deep commitment to Nigeria, Chief Alex-Duduyemi holds the prestigious titles of Asiwaju of Ile-Ife and Aro of the Source, two of the highest chieftaincy titles in Yorubaland. His role in these traditional institutions has been instrumental in preserving and promoting Yoruba cultural heritage and values.
Born in 1935, Chief Alex-Duduyemi’s career spans decades of significant contributions to the nation. During Nigeria’s Second Republic, he served in the Federal House of Representatives from 1964 to 1966, and as Parliamentary Secretary at the Cabinet Office in Lagos, where he was recognized for his commitment to national development.

Beyond politics, he has made substantial contributions to the private sector. After leaving politics in 1966, he shifted his focus to business, initially making a fortune in commodity trading. He later diversified his portfolio, venturing into various sectors including construction, banking, and real estate.

He is the chairman of several companies, including Bolex Holdings Ltd and Equity Shipping Company Nigeria Ltd.

His involvement in the oil and gas industry is also notable, as he serves as the chairman of Network Oil Exploration and Production Nigeria Ltd.

His business acumen and leadership have significantly boosted Nigeria’s economic growth and inspired many in the business community.

Chief Alex-Duduyemi is also widely known for his philanthropic efforts. Through various initiatives, he has invested in education, healthcare, and youth empowerment projects, leaving a lasting impact on communities throughout Nigeria. His contributions, which range from providing scholarships to funding infrastructure projects, have improved the lives of countless citizens.
