All Parts Of Ogun Will Feel Government Presence, Says Governor Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has restated his commitment to ensuring even development across all parts of the state, assuring residents that “no community will be left behind.”

Through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the governor said that the administration is simultaneously working on four major highways in the Ifo, Sango Ota, and Idiroko axis, while new projects are being factored into the proposed 2026 budget.

Akinmade, in a statement issued on Monday, described as “mischievous” the claims that the government had abandoned bad portions of certain roads, saying that the Abiodun-led administration has a structured plan to deliver infrastructure evenly across the three senatorial districts.

He noted that despite being federal roads, both the 140-kilometre Abeokuta–Lagos Expressway and the Sango–Idiroko Highway are currently being rehabilitated by the state government.
According to him, about 22 kilometres of the Ijoko–Agbado–Alagbole Road have already been completed, while the 24-kilometre Ota–Itele–Lafenwa stretch has been captured in the proposed 2026 budget.

“That area being mostly complained about, the Ota–Itele–Lafenwa stretch, had been incorporated into the 2026 budget long before the social media hoopla,” Akinmade said.
“This shows the governor’s commitment to spreading development evenly across all nooks and crannies of Ogun State as quickly as time and resources permit.”

The statement also highlighted several completed and ongoing road projects in the Ifo–Ado Odo–Ota axis, including:
1. Ikorita Meta–Adenrele/Olose Titus Vespa Road (3.1km)
2. Old Bank Road–Orita Meta–Coker Junction–Olumo Spur Road (1km)
3. Olusegun Osoba–Toyin–Agbado Road (2.4km)
4. Sango Ota–Oke Aro–Ojodu Abiodun Road Phase 6 (1.6km)
5. Sango Roundabout–Ijoko Bridge Phase 1 (8.5km)
6. Akute–Denro–Ishasi Road (4.8km)
7. Alhaji Kosoko Street, Ojodu Abiodun (1km)
8. Ajulo–Akute Road (3km)
9. Hercules–Giwa Road (1.3km)
10. Alagbole–Ajulo Road (1.7km)
11. Akute Bridge–Oke Aro Bridge (9.2km)
12. Atan–Lusada–Marogbo Toll Road (19.2km)
13. Lafenwa–Osi–Ikola Road (7km)
14. Bible College Road, Ota (3.89km)

Akinmade explained that the government inherited a large infrastructure deficit in 2019, particularly in the Sango Ota and adjoining areas, but said the situation has changed with the reconstruction of major routes such as the Sango–Ijoko–Agbado–Oke Aro–Lambe–Akute Road, Sango Ota–Papalanto–Abeokuta Road, and the Sango–Idiroko Road.

“Governor Abiodun rose to the challenge by reconstructing three of the four major roads in that axis almost simultaneously,” Akinmade added, “while the fourth, the Ota–Itele–Lafenwa Road, has already been provided for in the 2026 budget.”

He further disclosed that the three ongoing projects—Sango–Ijoko–Agbado–Oke Aro–Lambe–Akute (30km), Sango Ota–Papalanto–Abeokuta (140km), and Sango–Idiroko (63km)—are all over 50 percent complete, with work expected to accelerate after the rainy season.

Akinmade urged residents to ignore opposition figures “bent on misleading the public for political reasons,” adding that the administration remains committed to transparency and public accountability.

“Governor Abiodun has never left anyone in doubt of his determination to work till the very last minute of his tenure,” Akinmade said.
“At a time when Ogun State is achieving unprecedented milestones, including a world-class airport, a global-standard sports complex, and the largest cement factory in West Africa, citizens have every reason to be proud of the state’s progress.”
