APC Accelerates Membership Drive to Secure Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid Ahead of 2027 Polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has kicked off an intensive nationwide membership registration campaign aimed at securing early dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections. Already, reports from multiple states confirm that the party has begun registering new members in large numbers, with several chapters pledging their commitment to delivering a massive turnout for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.

This fresh mobilisation push, which aligns with a broader strategy to reinforce the party’s grassroots structure, follows a directive issued during the APC’s 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the State House in Abuja last Thursday. During the meeting, President Tinubu made a passionate call for aggressive grassroots engagement and membership expansion across all states, noting that the party’s long-term political success hinges on its strength at the local level.

According to party sources, no fewer than 11 state chapters have pledged to collectively deliver at least 15 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027. Party leaders in these states have already begun house-to-house campaigns, open-air drives, and digital outreach programmes aimed at enlisting new members, especially among young voters and first-time participants.

President Tinubu, in his address to NEC members, urged the party’s leadership to adopt a community-based approach to politics. He emphasized that real power lies at the grassroots, and only a party that understands and serves the people at the community level can retain national leadership.

He warned against complacency and encouraged governors, lawmakers, ministers, and local government leaders to work in unity. He said that if the APC must stay in power, every member has to play an active role. According to him, waiting for election season before engaging with the people would only weaken the party’s influence.

The party’s national secretariat has already begun deploying support materials to state offices to aid the smooth execution of the registration process. These include forms, digital tools for online data entry, and training modules for local volunteers who are facilitating new registrations across rural and urban areas.

In many states, the drive is already yielding results. Community halls, town squares, and local schools have become focal points of activity as enthusiastic residents turn out in numbers to join the ruling party. Party officials have used the opportunity to highlight key programmes of the Tinubu administration and assure citizens of continued development if given another term.

Additionally, several APC youth wings and women’s groups have launched complementary drives to reach previously underrepresented segments. Social media campaigns have also intensified, with hashtags promoting the re-election of President Tinubu and the need to “expand the base, secure the future.”

This early start, analysts believe, is a calculated advantage in Nigeria’s dynamic political terrain. By building momentum now, the APC hopes to entrench itself in the hearts of voters well before campaign season officially begins.

With opposition parties still calibrating their strategies, the APC’s massive voter registration blitz may well tilt the political balance in 2027. For now, the ruling party appears confident that with unity, consistency, and deep local engagement, it can maintain its dominance at the federal level and secure another term for President Tinubu.
