The Nigerian Army has dismissed allegations by dismissed Lance Corporal Rotimi Olamilekan over poor remuneration and welfare of personnel, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Apollonia Anele, said the report circulating online was sensationalised and required clarification to prevent public misinformation.
The Army explained that Olamilekan, popularly known as “Soja Boi,” was dismissed not for expressing opinions but for repeated acts of indiscipline, including violations of military social media regulations.
According to the statement, his actions involved unauthorised media engagements and misuse of military identity, adding that due process was followed in line with military law.
On remuneration, the Army maintained that personnel are paid through a structured and transparent system based on rank and years of service, as stipulated in the Manual of Financial Administration for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
It added that soldiers receive various allowances, including uniform, ration cash, and operational allowances, particularly for those deployed in operations such as Operation Hadin Kai.
The Army also dismissed claims that personnel purchase their own uniforms and protective gear, stressing that all equipment is provided through established logistics systems.
Reaffirming its commitment to discipline and welfare, the Army urged the public to disregard the allegations and avoid spreading unverified information that could undermine morale and national security efforts.
