Barbarism Must End!” – SGF Akume Condemns Benue Killings, Urges Unity Under Tinubu’s Hope Agenda

“Barbarism Must End!” – That was the resounding message from Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, in response to the horrific killings that recently ravaged Benue State. Akume, visibly shaken and deeply saddened by the loss of over 200 innocent lives, mostly women and children, vehemently condemned the attacks as “mindless barbarism” and declared them “totally unacceptable.”

Speaking through his spokesperson, Terrence Kuanum, Akume, a former governor of Benue State, extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and offered his sympathies to the survivors. He passionately called for an immediate end to such dastardly acts, not only in Benue but throughout the entire nation of Nigeria.

Drawing upon his experience as a former state governor, Akume emphasized the complexities of combating insecurity and stressed the urgent need for unity among all political, religious, and traditional leaders. He implored them to set aside their differences and unite on the common task of eradicating all forms of insecurity from Nigeria.

Akume also urged the people of Benue State not to succumb to despair but to remain resolute and cooperate fully with security agencies. He underscored that this collaborative effort is essential to defeating the evil of insecurity in their communities and is a core objective of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The SGF expressed his firm belief that President Tinubu’s directive to the Service Chiefs of the Armed Forces to prioritize ending insecurity in Benue State will yield the desired results, bringing peace and stability back to the region.
