Celebrating Five Years of Progress: ANDFI Annual Conference Charts Path for Inclusive, Impact-Driven Finance in Nigeria

The 5th Annual Conference of the Association of Nigerian Development Finance Institutions (ANDFI) marked a major milestone in the evolution of Nigeria’s development finance landscape. It was not just a gathering—it was a celebration of five years of collaboration, innovation, and tangible impact. Held under the theme “Deepening Developmental Impact and Inclusive Financing,” the conference brought together key voices from across the financial ecosystem, uniting stakeholders around a shared vision: building a stronger, more inclusive, and resilient Nigerian economy.

The event provided a powerful platform for dialogue between development finance institutions (DFIs), policymakers, financial experts, and stakeholders focused on inclusive growth. Throughout the sessions, attendees tackled some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing Nigeria’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which remain the backbone of the country’s economy. Discussions ranged from innovative financing models and digital transformation in banking to climate finance, gender equity, and sustainability.

A key highlight of the conference was the keynote address delivered by Dr. Doris Aniete, a leading advocate for inclusive economic growth and financial sector reform. Her thought-provoking presentation emphasized the need to align financing strategies with national development goals, while also pushing for stronger collaboration among DFIs, regulators, and the private sector. She challenged the audience to rethink traditional approaches to funding and adopt bold, inclusive models that prioritize underserved communities and marginalized businesses.

The panel sessions featured a wide array of seasoned professionals who shared practical insights and real-world case studies. From tackling the financing gap for MSMEs to exploring the role of technology in expanding financial inclusion, the conversations were rich, actionable, and forward-thinking. Participants left the sessions equipped with new ideas, new partnerships, and a renewed commitment to making finance work for everyone—especially those historically left behind.

Special appreciation goes to all the dynamic panelists, moderators, partner institutions, and DFIs who made this conference not only possible but impactful. Their contributions, both on and off the stage, reflect a deep commitment to the mission of ANDFI: driving developmental finance as a catalyst for sustainable economic transformation.

This 5th anniversary served as both a celebration of achievements and a strategic moment of reflection. Over the past five years, ANDFI has played a critical role in shaping policies, advocating for inclusive finance, and strengthening the capacity of its member institutions. The conference reminded us that while significant progress has been made, there is still much work ahead to fully unlock the potential of development finance in Nigeria.

As the conference came to a close, one message stood out: the journey continues. With stronger partnerships, data-driven strategies, and inclusive innovation, Nigeria’s DFIs are more determined than ever to expand their developmental impact. Together, we are building a financial ecosystem that leaves no one behind and supports a future of shared prosperity.
