Corruption Has Become Democratised in Nigeria, Says Ezekwesili

Former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, on Saturday warned that corruption in Nigeria has become “democratised,” likening it to cancer eating into institutions.

Speaking at the opening of the Citadel School of Government and the onboarding of its pioneer diploma class in partnership with the University of Lagos Business School, Ezekwesili urged emerging leaders to resist corruption.

“Corruption starts gently, and when you don’t tackle it, it becomes a monster. It has now become systemic and democratised,” she said.

Founder of the school, Pastor Tunde Bakare, said the initiative aimed at raising “a new breed without greed” to provide solutions to Nigeria’s leadership crisis.

Seventy pioneer students were admitted into the programme, joining over 700 trained in similar initiatives in the past five years.
