Decentralization: Doufelgou 1 and Sotouboua 2 Confirm Taxpayer Records and Non-Tax Revenue Sources.

In Togo, the Doufelgou 1 commune has established its taxpayer registry following a census conducted from March 4 to 11, 2025.

The validation of this registry on Friday, March 14, is part of an initiative backed by the GIZ Decentralization and Governance Program (ProDeG IV), which aims to enhance the local tax base through the use of technological tools and a systematic approach.

The census identified 597 taxpayers, including traders, artisans, service providers, and other economic participants, with an anticipated contribution of approximately 56.5 million CFA francs. Census agents utilized the SIG Recettes application to gather accurate data, including the geolocation of taxable assets, thereby aiding in the planning and optimization of municipal financial management.

Mayor Tchapkro Tchemi Tchambi of Doufelgou 1 stated, “This tool provides us with a clear overview of tax resources, enabling us to better direct our investments towards local development.” Additionally, Mr. Etêh-Messan Agbodan, a technical advisor for ProDeG IV, emphasized the necessity of continuously updating this database to ensure sustainable revenue mobilization.

It is also noteworthy that on Thursday, March 13, 2025, the Sotouboua 2 municipality validated its taxpayer registry as part of the same initiative in Adjengré. In this area, 991 taxpayers were identified across the cantons of Séssaro, Titigbé, Aouda, Kériadè, Fazao, and Adjengré, with a projected contribution nearing 27 million CFA francs.
