The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has called on business leaders and policymakers to embrace digital transformation as a continuous journey—an “infinite game” rather than a race with a fixed finish line.
Speaking at the 13th BusinessDay CEO Forum in Lagos on Thursday, themed “Nigeria: From Reform to Recovery,” Inuwa challenged stakeholders to rethink how they view progress in the digital space.
“Digital transformation is not a destination—it’s a mindset,” Inuwa said. “We must treat it as an infinite game, where each reform or milestone becomes a stepping stone for deeper, more inclusive growth.”
He emphasized that while Nigeria has made commendable strides in digital infrastructure, governance, and policy reforms, these gains should not signal a pause or slowdown. Instead, they must serve as launchpads for innovation, economic resilience, and long-term competitiveness.
The NITDA DG warned against complacency and urged both public and private sectors to commit to continuous improvement, inclusivity, and agility in the face of rapid global technological advancement.
“Our digital future will be defined by how willing we are to adapt, collaborate, and build systems that evolve with the needs of society,” he said.
Inuwa’s remarks support Nigeria’s broader Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (2020–2030) and align with NITDA’s mission to foster a digitally inclusive economy that supports startups, creates jobs, and drives sustainable development.
The forum attracted key players from across the public and private sectors, all focused on how reforms can be translated into real economic recovery and growth. Inuwa’s message served as a powerful reminder: in the digital age, standing still is falling behind.
