Ecobank Togo officially unveiled an enhanced version of its Ellever program on Friday, March 8, 2025, aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs and leaders.
Coinciding with International Women’s Day, this initiative seeks to promote financial inclusion and support the development of businesses led by women.
The revamped Ellever program now extends its reach to not only female entrepreneurs but also women in leadership roles and employees, with a special emphasis on young business owners. Additionally, it encompasses companies that are predominantly owned by women or have significant female representation in their management.
During the launch event, Togolese Minister of Commerce Rose Kayi Mivedor praised the initiative, referencing a World Bank study that indicates microenterprises managed by women in Togo yield higher profits than those run by men. She also underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing financial inclusion for vulnerable women through initiatives like PAIFFV (Projet d’Appui à l’Inclusion Financière des Femmes Vulnérables).
Eusèbe Afoutou, Acting Managing Director of Ecobank Togo, emphasized that the program tackles critical issues faced by female entrepreneurs, particularly in terms of access to financing and overcoming gender biases.
