Free Medical Campaign Underway in Togo’s Plateaux Region

A free medical campaign is currently taking place in Togo, running until May 24, 2025, across all 12 prefectures of the Plateaux region.

The campaign, officially launched on May 9 in Atakpamé by Governor Brigadier General Dadja Maganawé, is being conducted by the army health service with the support of the Presidency of the Council.

The program offers free consultations and surgical procedures for common conditions such as hernias, fibroids, lipomas, and goiters. It also includes screening services for diabetes, HIV, and hypertension.

Medical operations will be performed at major health centers in the region, including the Atakpamé Hospital and the prefectural hospitals of Notsè, Kpalimé, Tohoun, Badou, and Elavagnon. Governor Dadja Maganawé emphasized the campaign as “an act of faith in health for all” and highlighted the importance of bringing healthcare to communities outside the traditional health system.

Colonel Agba Komi, Director of the Army Health Service, stated that this national initiative also aims to strengthen ties between the army and citizens, particularly given the increasing security tensions in the northern part of the country.
