Gabon’s Interim Leader, Brice Nguema, will Run in the April Presidential Election.

Nguema, the leader of the military coup that brought an end to the long-standing Bongo family regime, visited the Ministry of the Interior to finalize his registration.

In a statement, he announced that the Ministry of National Defense had granted his request to participate in politics, thereby qualifying him to run for office.

“I am pleased to share that the Ministry of National Defense has positively addressed my request for availability. This indicates that as of February 27, 2025, I am eligible to participate in political activities and potentially assume the highest office,” he conveyed to AFP.
