The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has praised staff of the Agency for their dedication, resilience, and growing impact on Nigeria’s industrial and technological advancement. He gave the commendation during a NASENI town hall meeting, which brought together management and staff to review achievements, align priorities, and set clear targets for 2026.
Speaking with clarity and optimism, Halilu described the town hall as more than a routine engagement. Instead, he positioned it as a moment for honest reflection, renewed commitment, and shared ownership of NASENI’s mission. He emphasised that the Agency’s recent progress was driven largely by the hard work of its workforce, whose innovation and discipline continue to strengthen NASENI’s relevance in national development.
According to him, NASENI has recorded notable milestones across multiple sectors. He highlighted progress in local manufacturing, technology transfer, and applied research, stressing that the Agency is steadily moving from ideas to tangible outcomes. More importantly, he noted that NASENI’s interventions are now increasingly visible in agriculture, energy, transportation, and small-scale industrial production.
Furthermore, Halilu pointed to the successful rollout of strategic initiatives aimed at deepening local content and reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imports. Through targeted projects and partnerships, NASENI has continued to support indigenous solutions that respond directly to national challenges. These efforts, he explained, align with the Federal Government’s broader industrialisation and economic diversification agenda.
In addition, the NASENI boss highlighted the Agency’s renewed focus on collaboration. He noted that partnerships with universities, research institutions, private sector players, and other government agencies have expanded significantly. As a result, innovation pipelines are becoming stronger, faster, and more responsive to market needs. He stressed that collaboration remains central to scaling impact and delivering sustainable results.
Looking ahead, Halilu unveiled NASENI key targets for 2026. He outlined plans to deepen innovation through expanded research and development, accelerate commercialisation of homegrown technologies, and strengthen capacity building for staff and young innovators. He also announced a stronger emphasis on accountability, performance tracking, and value-for-money across all projects.
Moreover, he reaffirmed NASENI’s commitment to people-centred innovation. According to him, every project must deliver measurable benefits to Nigerians, whether through job creation, skills development, or improved productivity. He added that innovation should not exist in isolation but must translate into real economic and social value.
Halilu also used the opportunity to encourage staff to embrace a culture of excellence, adaptability, and continuous learning. He urged them to remain open to new ideas, technologies, and global best practices, while staying grounded in local realities. He assured staff that management would continue to invest in training, welfare, and a supportive work environment.
As the session concluded, a strong sense of unity and purpose filled the room. The town hall reinforced shared goals, strengthened trust between leadership and staff, and set a clear direction for the year ahead. With renewed momentum and clearly defined targets, NASENI is positioning itself to play an even bigger role in driving innovation, industrial growth, and sustainable development in Nigeria.
