Labor Day: Authorities Promote Togolese Goods.

The government of Togo aims to enhance local consumption in light of the May 1, 2025 holiday. In a press release dated Tuesday, April 29, Rose Kayi Mivedor-Sambiani, the Minister of Commerce, Handicrafts, and Local Consumption, emphasized the need for public institutions to prioritize ‘Made in Togo’ products and services during official events, including the Workers’ Day celebrations.

This initiative seeks to boost domestic demand, showcase Togolese skills, support local manufacturing, and foster national supply chains. The minister stressed that adherence to this directive is crucial for the success of the country’s socio-economic development strategy.

This instruction builds on a 2020 circular from the Prime Minister’s Office, which encourages government bodies, state enterprises, and various committees to consistently incorporate local products and cuisine into their event planning. For the past five years, Togo has joined its WAEMU counterparts in celebrating a month dedicated to local consumption, aimed at promoting national production, under the guidance of the Ministry of Commerce.
