Mali Suspends Political Activities Amidst Rising Tensions

The Malian government announced a suspension of all political activities across the country, citing the need to preserve public order. The announcement was made in a statement broadcast on state television on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

The decision comes ahead of planned protests by Malian political parties on Friday. These parties are demanding a return to constitutional order and the holding of presidential elections.

The ruling military junta stated that the suspension of activities for political parties and other political organizations would remain in effect until further notice.
