National Assembly: Results of the 2025 Inaugural Extraordinary Session.

In Togo, the National Assembly concluded its inaugural extraordinary session of 2025 on March 28, which was called by the Head of State. This session, presided over by Assembly President Sevon-Tépé Kodjo Adédzé, resulted in the approval of seven legislative texts and a resolution addressing issues such as public management, sustainable development, and security.

On the economic and administrative fronts, the deputies endorsed a reform of the governance framework for public enterprises, along with an amendment to the founding law of the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR), paving the way for reforms within this tax authority.

Regarding public finances, two budget settlement laws for the 2020 and 2021 fiscal years were passed, providing updates on the execution of public accounts during these periods. Additionally, the National Assembly’s financial regulations were revised.

In terms of security, two significant texts were approved: the extension of the state of security emergency and a new intelligence law aimed at enhancing the regulation of countering threats.

Another important development during this parliamentary session was the passage of a law addressing climate change, which commits Togo to more proactive environmental governance.

It is noteworthy that the first ordinary session of the year will commence on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, featuring a ceremony that will include participation from government members.
