In a move signaling a new phase of growth, Belemaoil Producing Limited, a Nigerian indigenous oil firm, announced the appointment of Ahmadu H. Sambo as its new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer in September 2024. Sambo, formerly a Group General Manager of Finance at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), brings extensive experience to the role as Belemaoil aims to expand its global footprint in the oil and gas sector.
The company’s founder, Tein Jack-Rich, is transitioning his focus towards strategic multi-dimensional business development, including exploring opportunities in financial technology (Fintech) to promote financial inclusion and foster social good within Nigeria and potentially across the African continent.
Jack-Rich’s commitment extends beyond the energy sector. He was recognized as the African Philanthropist of the Year at the 12th African Persons of the Year Awards in February 2024, acknowledging his philanthropic contributions to education, clean water initiatives, and job creation programs throughout Nigeria.
Under Sambo’s leadership, Belemaoil is expected to pursue a strategy that aligns business growth with social impact, reflecting Jack-Rich’s broader vision. This approach aims to establish new benchmarks for corporate responsibility and sustainable development within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, potentially serving as a model for other indigenous firms in the region. The company’s future direction will be closely watched as it navigates the evolving global energy landscape.
