In a bid to scale up mechanised agriculture and enhance food security initiatives across Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has expressed his administration’s willingness to collaborate with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).
The governor made this commitment on Monday during a courtesy visit to his office in Akure by the Ondo State Coordinator of NALDA, Chief Olusola Ayandokun, and his team.
While receiving the delegation, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasised that one of the major challenges hindering the growth of mechanised agriculture in the state is the issue of land clearing. He noted that this barrier has particularly discouraged many young people from participating in or expanding their farming activities.
“Land clearing remains a significant obstacle for many of our farmers, especially the youth, who are eager to venture into mechanised agriculture but lack the means to prepare the land,” Aiyedatiwa said.
The governor highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in tackling these challenges and noted that working with NALDA would play a crucial role in making large-scale agriculture more accessible and profitable in the state.
