Renaissance Africa Energy Boosts Output to 230,000bpd, Targets 300,000bpd by January 2026

Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited stated that it has achieved great progress within a short period of transition from the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), and poised to achieve more despite some challenges before it.

This as the indigenous oil firm has disclosed that it’s oil production has increased from 100,000bpd to 230,000bpd since handover, adding that it targets 300,000bpd by January 2026.

Chief Production Officer (CPO) of Renaissance, Dr Mesh Maichibi who made the assertion during his lecture at the 20th annual lecture and awards ceremony organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Port Harcourt branch, said the firm has improved in national ownership, job retention, communities relations and leadership stability.

Speaking on the topic, “Transition Management Renaissance Case Study,” at the event held in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State, Maichibi said the company is currently stabilising the gains while at the same time aggressively pursuing the safe and responsible delivery of values to the key stakeholders.

The CPO noting that the vision of the company is to be Africa’s leading e energy company enabling energy security and industrialisation in a sustainable manner, explained that Renaissance vision is “partnering for prosperity, empowering the people, integrating value chains and securing energy future”.

Responding to questions from journalists at the event, Maichibi stressed “Currently as I speak, we are doing close to 230,000barrels of oil per day, so we just need about 70,000 to achieve 300,000bpd by January 2026. We have three facilities that needs to start up and by the end of the year we will start them up and we should end the year with 300,000 per day.

Anything you do, you must have a robust plan, you need to put the mechanism to get over. One of them is Belema Flow Station, as I speak, Belema can produce 25,000 barrels per day. So, if I get Belema, also get some of the Wells that we are closing back, then we would be able to get that volumes”.

Speaking on the lecture topic, he said “The lecture is on transition management. We try to showcase what we Nigerians can do if in transition, we actually lectured on how we transit from Shell Petroleum Development Company to Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited and the successes that we have achieved within the few months we took over from Shell.

“As you are aware, over 100,000 barrels of oil has been increased to our current production profile and we still have plans to do more.

What I try to tell Nigerians is that when there is change, people should embrace it and then run with it. As you are running, you are also checking whether you are doing the right thing with the right behaviour, then you need to check back, adjust, and move forward.

When I was talking to the audience, I actually said, one of the key roles that we play in Renaissance is capacity building. Capacity building right from the contractors, because 80% of our job is done by the contractors. And we want to encourage Nigerians to be part of our business, as one of our mission is partnering for prosperity and if you are going to partner for prosperity, you need to bring in your vendor.”

In building workforce, Maichibi expressed: “We want to bring our young engineers closer, train them for them to takeover from us when we exit, because is a Share that we have gotten, alot of volumes is on the ground and we need to produce it, is not going to be something that will finish tomorrow, is going to take a longer time. So, we need to groom the young ones, while we are also training the guys that are running it currently”.

He added that the case study demonstrates that successful post-divestment transitions required not just technical and financial planning, but a deep commitment to sustainability, equity, and national development.

Earlier, in her address, the Chairman, NSE, Port Harcourt branch, Daeresoari Ateke, stated that the annual lecture, awards is a platform established to not only recognised outstanding contributions to engineering but also to ensure a seamless transition of knowledge and experience.

Describing Dr Maichibi as a prominent figure in the oil and gas industry, Ateke stated “The topic chosen for these lectures are carefully selected to be both timely and relevant, providing a roadmap for addressing the successes and challenges of SPDC’s transition to Renaissance Africa Energy Company Ltd”.

THISDAY observed that GM RSD, Renaissance, Igo Wali was the special guest of honour, while the Managing Director, GGI International Nigeria Limited, Dr Innocent Akuvue, and others were guest of honours at the event.
