In Togo, Very Small, Small, and Medium Enterprises (VSMEs) are preparing a White Paper that outlines the challenges they encounter and suggests solutions to enhance their role in the national economy. This document was unveiled on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in Lomé to the Minister of Commerce, Kayi Mivedor-Sambiani.

The White Paper is the culmination of extensive discussions with stakeholders from both the private and public sectors. It offers recommendations on critical areas such as governance, access to information, taxation, modernization of the agricultural sector, and social security. These recommendations aim to foster a more conducive environment for the growth of these enterprises, which constitute over 80% of the nation’s economic landscape.

Vignon Aboki, president of the Togolese Group of Small and Medium Industries, stated that the document will serve as a roadmap for the government, technical and financial partners, as well as the SMEs themselves. The Minister of Commerce expressed appreciation for this initiative and assured that the government would consider these proposals to enhance its support for the sector.
