The Chamber of Commerce and Industry aims to elevate SMEs into future leaders.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Togo (CCI-Togo) aims to elevate the proportion of large enterprises within the national economy to 90%. This objective was communicated to Prime Minister Victoire Dogbé during a meeting on January 30, 2025, in Lomé.

At present, very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises (VSSMEs) constitute approximately 90% of the business landscape in Togo. CCI-Togo is determined to transform this scenario by facilitating the growth of these businesses into larger entities.

José Symenouh, the President of CCI-Togo, advocates for established large companies to assist their smaller counterparts in achieving success. He remarked, “For instance, firms like Ecobank and Zener can elevate the smaller enterprises.”

To bolster small and medium enterprises (SMEs), CCI-Togo intends to secure funding and attract foreign investment. Additionally, they plan to address language challenges by establishing a “Business Language” center aimed at enhancing communication between Togolese entrepreneurs and international partners.

As a vital intermediary between the private sector and the government, CCI-Togo is instrumental in advancing the interests of Togolese businesses, with a focus on enhancing trade, industry, and services both domestically and globally.
