Lomé is hosting the Regional Civil Society Forum on girls’ education and women’s economic empowerment in West and Central Africa on Tuesday, February 25, and Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
The event, taking place at the Hôtel 2 Février, is organized by the World Bank Group in collaboration with the Brazzaville Foundation.
The forum’s objective is to enhance the role of civil society in advocating for women’s education and economic empowerment, while also identifying key actions for implementation. Additionally, it will provide a platform for networking and experience sharing, enabling civil society organizations (CSOs) to engage directly with World Bank representatives regarding potential collaboration opportunities.
Togo’s Initiatives
This meeting in Togo coincides with the country’s commitment to further elevate the status of women and young girls in the socio-economic landscape, a move that has been positively acknowledged by international partners.
Sandra Ablamba Johnson, Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Togolese Republic and Governor of Togo at the World Bank, emphasized during the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the IMF in October 2024 in Washington that the development of the continent cannot be envisioned without the involvement of women, who represent the majority.
