President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Makurdi, Benue State, to engage directly with stakeholders in an effort to address the ongoing violent attacks that have plagued the region. The Benue State Government declared a public holiday to mark the President’s visit, underscoring the importance of the discussions.
Upon arrival at the Tactical Air Command, Nigerian Air Force Base, President Tinubu proceeded to a series of meetings aimed at understanding the scope and impact of the violence. He is scheduled to meet with families of victims, displaced and injured persons, and community leaders who have been directly affected by the recent attacks. These meetings are intended to provide the President with firsthand accounts of the situation on the ground.

Later, President Tinubu will preside over a major town hall meeting at the Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House in Makurdi. This meeting will bring together a wide range of critical stakeholders, including political, religious, and traditional leaders from across the state. The goal of the town hall is to foster dialogue and collaboration in the search for a lasting solution to the crisis that has disproportionately affected rural communities in Benue.
The meeting is expected to draw key national and state-level figures. In addition to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, governors from other states, particularly those in the North-Central region, are expected to attend. Other high-profile attendees include National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, service chiefs, key members of the National Assembly, leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and prominent individuals representing affected communities in Benue. Traditional rulers from various ethnic groups within Benue, executive chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas, members of the Elders’ Council, and members of the Benue State House of Assembly are also expected to participate, ensuring a comprehensive representation of the state’s diverse interests.
