Tinubu Hails Edo Governor Okpebholo at 55, Congratulates Nigerian Elected Rotary International President

President Bola  Tinubu has rejoiced with Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on his 55th birthday, describing him as a committed democrat dedicated to serving his

people.

The President, in a release issued on Friday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, extolled Governor Okpebholo’s devotion to good governance and the welfare of his people, especially at the grassroots, noting that his leadership reflects a strong sense of responsibility and an uncommon bond with the people of Edo State.

President Tinubu acknowledged the Governor’s contributions to fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development in the state and urges him to sustain the tempo.

He prayed for Governor Okpebholo’s continued good health, wisdom, and strength as he steers the affairs of Edo State and contributes to Nigeria’s growth

and progress for years to come.

Also, the President congratulated Olayinka Hakeem Babalola on his election as the President of Rotary International for the 2026/2027 calendar year.

Babalola, a member of the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi, Nigeria, who was elected by the Rotary International Board of Directors following SangKoo Yun’s resignation on health grounds, will assume office on July 1, 2026.

The Rotarian is the second African and Nigerian to attain the position in the global humanitarian organisation’s 120-year history.

President Tinubu believed Babalola’s elevation is a testament to his years of service through the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Rotary International, his laudable philanthropic initiatives and relentless pursuit of projects that have impacted lives, strengthened communities, and advanced peace, progress, and human dignity.

The President also believed Babalola’s election will inspire millions of Nigerians, especially the younger generation, by demonstrating that anyone can achieve global recognition and lead transformative change with vision, integrity, and dedication to service.

”As you prepare to assume office, you can count on our support and encouragement to continue championing humanitarian causes, fostering international partnerships, and promoting the spirit of service to humanity,” the President assured Babalola.

He wished Engineer Babalola a successful tenure and renewed strength in his service to humanity.
