Togo and the UK Discuss Economic and Security Cooperation.

In Togo, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé met with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador, Harriet Thompson, on Wednesday, February 26, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation. Their conversation centered on vital economic sectors, trade, and investment, highlighting the significant interest of British firms in the Togolese market.

“Our companies are eager to partner with local entities, invest, and expand trade with Togo,” stated Ms. Thompson. The dialogue also encompassed collaboration in defense and security, with a particular emphasis on counter-terrorism efforts and the exchange of experiences to bolster regional stability.

The Ambassador commended President Gnassingbé for his commitment to fostering peace and stability in West Africa.

Additionally, it is noteworthy that in 2024, a group of British investors visited Togo as part of a tour to identify economic opportunities within the country. During this visit, they gained insights into operations at the Adétikopé industrial platform.
